My Dot relays tasks to a Codex instance on my other machine

added

I'll tell you what... the openai dots thing is a game changer... Being able to send my dot to tell another instance of codex running on my other box to do something and return the result (or figure it out between the two and get it working) thing is a huge time saver.

First-hand r/codex result (u/Fantastic_Self_5151): user sends their Dot to instruct another Codex instance running on a second machine to do a task and return the result — the two agents work it out between themselves. Calls it "a huge time saver". Text-only post, no media.

Dot finished a rental report for mum, then emailed wife and co-ordered replacement printer filament with zero input

This morning I was just super disappointed with OpenAI. I haven't moved a long way from that, but my experience with my dot has been something that's worth talking about. I think I understand a bit more about what dots are for. When I first started using my dot, I used it as an orchestrator, like I would have previously on coding tasks. It struggled with anything complex. However, as the day went on, I started to change my use case of it, and I stopped using it as an orchestrator and more like a personal assistant. That was when I had a few aha moments. The first moment was when it emailed my mum and introduced itself... that gave me a bit of a shock. I told her I'd work on a report for rental housing she was looking for it. I wanted to give her daily report and she was struggling to find places. I'd done about half the job but not completed it, so I asked my dot to finish it off and send her the report. While doing that, it introduced itself to her and asked what else she needed. She sent me a really nice text message thanking me... Next, it identified a few things in my emails. Bambu Labs offered it to us free filament due to an issue we had with our A1 printer (power board exploded). The dot found this email which I'd forgotten about and I told it to ask my wife about it because I wasn't sure what the best choice was, and it emailed her. She had a few back-and-forth emails with it (while I was next to her on the couch laughing), and now together they've ordered the filament together, all with no input from me.
