Connected my EU bank accounts to my Dot via open banking

added

Seeing OpenAI's US-only finance connector made me want something similar for my own accounts in Europe. After talking through the idea with my dot, I had it build the initial integration. Roughly an hour of work, plus some setup and fixes on my side, got the basic connection working. It uses EU open banking under the PSD2 framework. I authenticate and grant consent through my bank, and a small read-only MCP connector makes balances and transaction history available to my dot. The tools don't expose any ability to initiate payments. In the end I have a custom plugin inside of Chatgpt that my Dot can use query my bank accounts across multiple bank or card providers. Now I can ask "What do I actually spend on groceries?", "Which subscriptions are adding up?" or "Am I staying afloat because my budget works, or because I keep dipping into savings?" It can analyse the transactions, combine them with context I've given it and turn the results into charts and a financial overview. Coverage has been good for my accounts overall (yay EU standards!). The main exception is Amex, which discontinued its open-banking account and transaction APIs in Sweden and Finland in March 2025 There's still some data cleanup involved, but this feels like a genuinely useful personal-assistant use case. Having that financial context makes a big difference to the help it can actually give me.

First-hand report from u/SvanteH in r/ChatGPT (Oct 2, 2026): he talked through the idea with his Dot and had it build a read-only EU open-banking (PSD2) MCP connector - about an hour of work. The Dot can now query his balances and transaction history across multiple banks/card providers, analyse spending, and turn the results into charts and a financial overview (attached screenshot: 'Where the money went' spending dashboard). No payment initiation ability by design.
