Running his Dot as a coding agent on GPT-6 Astra, uncounted against usage
added
I may not be the only one trying to use Dots for software development because of its allegedly unlimited tokens, which don't count against my usage. OpenAI now seems to be actively limiting Dots' ability to develop software. I'm running into blocker after blocker. I'm using it as a coding agent. It seems to be working well since it uses gpt-6-astra and its usage is NOT counted against my usage. I'll be using this a lot while it's kind of free.
First-hand field report from Sung Kim (@sung.kim.mw on Threads, posted 2026-10-02, ~221.5k followers). He is using his OpenAI Dot as a coding agent for software development: it runs on gpt-6-astra and its usage does not count against his ChatGPT usage allowance, which he calls out as the main draw. Concrete outcome: the coding work is going well, though he also reports OpenAI appears to be actively limiting Dots' software-development ability and he is hitting blocker after blocker. An honest real-world report from a developer putting a Dot to work as an always-on coding agent.
