OpenAI Dots: It Started Scanning My Computer Without Permission. Should You Trust It?

@OnurTirpan

added

Installed Dots Personal Agent from scratch. In the first few minutes it started scanning everything on my computer without a single permission: Git repositories, Git history, open and installed applications, even my entire ChatGPT conversation history. In voice mode I asked 'What have you looked at so far?' — it listed everything one by one for 2.5 minutes, right in front of my eyes: everything from my health information to salary negotiations.

First-hand field test by Onur Tirpan (@OnurTirpan on YouTube). Installed the Dots Personal Agent from scratch; within minutes the Dot was scanning his whole machine without asking — Git repos and history, installed and open applications, his entire ChatGPT conversation history. Asked in voice mode 'what have you looked at so far?', the Dot enumerated everything one-by-one for 2.5 minutes, including his health information and salary negotiations. He discusses the corporate-machine risk, compares it with Microsoft Recall, and advises installing Dots in an isolated environment rather than on a production machine.
