My Dot negotiated an annual bill through the vendor's website chat
Used OpenAI's new dot to negotiate an annual bill. It required some hand holding, many confirmations, and wasn't 100% autonomous, but it did work and ultimately saved me some time. It went through the chat on the vendors website. One thing for sure, is that this is going to annoy the shit out of customer service agents. It's super verbose and sends way too much info in every chat and asks for a ton of confirmations and info. I mean, it works, but I would hate to be on the receiving end of thisDot pulled an all-nighter and built the VulcanBench Decision Lab
Okay, this is actually insane, last night, while I slept, my Dot was working on a surprise for me. I woke up to see that, on its own, with no hints or ideas from me, it came up with the idea for VulcanBench Decision Lab, and then built it. As you can see, I literally just wrote, "okay I'm up" and it responded like an employee that just pulled an all-nighter trying to impress me. Totally wild. Dots might be something very different than anything I've ever used. Here's what I woke up to:
ChatGPT Dots Just Dropped. (Brutally Honest Review)
First honest look at OpenAI Dots, the new virtual cloud computer agent. Full hands-on walkthrough: setting up recurring schedules, using computer use to browse Airbnb, connecting plugins and MCP servers, testing creative tasks like painting in Photopea. Live demo: Airbnb listing monitor (06:45). Live demo: painting in Photopea (17:07).
OpenAI Dots: Setup and First Look
OpenAI Dots hands-on first look! I'm testing ChatGPT's personal AI assistant, creating my own dot named Max, and exploring what AI agents can do beyond answering a single question. From voice calls and customization to ongoing AI news research, this is a real walkthrough of OpenAI Dots in action.Sunshine audits my catering orders into a spreadsheet
Meet Sunshine ☀️ My new OpenAI Dot, and the extra pair of hands my business admin needed. I asked what it could take off my plate. It checked my catering orders, flagged details that needed a closer look and pulled them into an actual spreadsheet. Dots can work across connected apps, research suppliers, draft replies, organise documents and run recurring checks. Think a morning priority list prepared while you’re getting the kids ready. My rule: prepare the work, show me the result and get my approval before sending anything. I still check the important details. For a small business owner wearing every hat, that’s pretty bloody exciting. What’s the first admin job you’d hand over? 👇
Day-one first go: Carl Taylor's Dot started working before he asked
I got access to ChatGPT Dots and hit record on my very first go. Setting it up in the ChatGPT desktop app, giving it access to my own computer, calling it, taking over its cloud browser, and watching it start work before I'd asked it for anything. My Dot found a scheduling error I never asked it to look for
My Dot tracks my AI subscriptions and flags renewals on its own
AI that works even when you're not asking it to. OpenAI just launched Dots, always-on agents inside ChatGPT. I gave mine one job: track the AI tools I use, decide what's worth keeping, flag subscriptions that aren't worth renewing, never cancel anything without asking me first. Weeks later, it came back on its own, spotted a subscription that was about to renew (Higgsfield, $19 on Oct 1), compared it with the tools I already use (ChatGPT, Replit, Magnific), and recommended cancelling it. I approved it. Done. And it kept watching the next renewal cycle without me having to restart anything. This is just a glimpse of what always-on AI agents could actually look like.My Dot caught a real schedule conflict while booking my Japan flight
Asked my Dot to inspect its own cloud computer
I asked an OpenAI Dot to inspect its own execution environment — 9 CPUs, 9.7 GB RAM, 31.5 GB storage, no GPU Was curious, so I had it inspect its own environment. Mine gets 9 logical CPUs, ~9.7 GB RAM, ~31 GB storage and no GPU. CPU shows up as an AMD EPYC 9V74. I also asked if this was just some Blender-specific sandbox, but apparently not, it used the same environment for Python, SQLite and shell commands. Not the machine running the actual model of course, just the execution environment the Dot gets access to.My Dot built a 3D watch model in Blender while I was at the gym
I was at the gym working out while my new ChatGPT Dot Agent was building my watch in Blender 🤯 I got access through my Pro subscription and put iZZi (Dot) to the test. I sent it a picture of my Nightster Special watch design, and it built an editable 3D model with animated hands on its own computer. All while I was getting my workout in. This is amazing 🔥 #OpenAI #ChatGPTDots #Blender3D #3DModeling #ChatGPTDot "Sherly" caught mismatched event end-times across calendar, email, and rundown on day one
First day pakai dots dari OpenAI. Dot pertamaku aku kasih nama Sherly. Dia punya cloud computer sendiri, jadi tetap kerja walaupun laptop ditutup. Baru setup, dia udah nandain jam selesai event yg beda di kalender, email, dan rundown. Next mau aku coba buat rangkum email jadi action items, riset konten, sampai kumpulin konteks issue sebelum ke Codex. Email dan post tetap aku review dulu. Cara mulainya aku rangkum di video. Kalian kasih task apa duluan ke dot kalian?Dot set up its own cloud workspace to review PR #473
dot 初體驗 — first hands-on test of OpenAI's Dot by 余佳恆 (in Chinese). The chat screenshot documents the dot picking tachiko-work PR #473 (a small PR converting an always-loaded long process into an on-demand Skill while keeping existing rules; 4 CI checks passing; 2 commits behind main), then — after the user objected to needing his Mac authorized — switching to its own cloud computer, verifying Git, Python, and Node availability, and preparing an isolated cloud workspace for PR #473 with Sol 6.1 for main-branch compatibility verification, no Mac needed.Organized my entire DevDay, from travels to session and meeting setup
OpenAI announces dots. I have been testing it for the last few days and it's something special. Proactive capabilities are really great. I used it to organize my entire DevDay from travels to session/meetings setup. It has its own computer. Has come great note taking tools for organising work and it's only going to get better for collaboration. A lot of work ahead but it's already fun and useful.
I Gave OpenAI dots One Job. Then I Checked Its Answer.
Korean creator @SsulMal's actual first-hand Dots test (YouTube Short): gave the Dot one job - produce a public-web news brief, then run a source check on it. Shows real Dots UI excerpts (edited for readability), AI narration, EN/KO/VI captions. The creator is explicit about scope: one observed run, not a general reliability benchmark; no new app or local-PC connections tested, no recurring schedule; the products named in the brief were not tested. A concrete achieved result: the Dot built the news brief and completed the source verification. His Dot messages him all day with deadline reminders and keeps watch on his tasks
Will Francis (AI educator, @willfrancis, 262 likes, Sep 29, 2026) had early access to OpenAI's Dots and shows his Dot working in the ChatGPT app. Three concrete things he reports from real use: (1) proactivity — his Dot messages him throughout the day to remind him of deadlines and things he's supposed to have sent people, because it can see his email, calendar, and meeting notes; (2) feedback loop — the Dot asked him whether it was being too chatty, and it adjusted after he answered; (3) task orchestration — the Dot can start new tasks and chats on his behalf, on its own cloud computer or his own machine, and keep an eye on them wherever he is. He also gives ChatGPT Spaces a mention (collaborative workspace for docs/spreadsheets/sites). Caption on the reel: "New ChatGPT dots! Major new feature brings an always-on 24/7 AI assistant to your ChatGPT, that you can call or text to manage any of your ChatGPT or Codex chats and tasks." Note: this reel is the Instagram cross-post of his identical Facebook reel (facebook.com/reel/1452201060107619/).His Dot edited this entire video as its first task
I was part of the early access group for OpenAI Dot. Here are my initial thoughts, and how to get started. PS. Save this and comment "DOT" for my full guide to OpenAI's new AI assistant. It has its own cloud computer, builds context over time, and can keep working between conversations. And by the way you can call it. [Video: Matt Paige, in the Dots early-access group, walks through the interface — a Dot as an 'always-on AI employee' with its own cloud computer, browser, and connected apps, working 24/7 toward goals. His first delegated task was editing this entire video, which he says turned out well. He shows you can message the Dot in ChatGPT or call it on the phone, and that it carries context across conversations. His starter advice: ask your Dot 'Based on what you know about me and the apps I've connected, what should I delegate to you first?']Dot checked MLS listings and anticipated my next task after a client showing
Saving money
